Times Are a Changin, Are You? – Living in The Beautiful State of Flow

Most people would say they embrace positive transformation. They say they would like to grow and improve themselves and their life. But, ask them to change, or tell them there will be big changes coming in the world, or their life, and their enthusiasm sometimes turns to something akin to resistance or fear.

An integral part of growth and transformation is change. Unless we embrace change we will not grow and transform. This is simple to understand, but it is sometimes difficult to accept in real life. Change brings up fear, fear of the unknown, fear of loss, and fear of the familiar. In their quest for transformation, people often forget that transformation means change.

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” Alan Cohen
Marked by prophecies such as the Mayan 2012 Calendar, we are living in a world where great changes are taking place on a massive scale. The world economies continue to see large scale changes such as the collapse of old institutions and corporations. Earth changes too are frequently in the news.

The world of information technology has literally exploded year by year. Recently two economists at UC Berkeley calculated our total global information production for one year. Varian and Lyman estimate that the total production of new information in 2000 reached 1.5 exabytes. They explain that is about 37,000 times as much information as is in the entire holdings Library of Congress. For one year! Three years later the annual total yielded 3.5 exabytes. That yields a 66% rate of growth in information per year.

In a world of change, change whose pace is accelerating at lightning speed, how do we cope with change? How do we use change as an ally instead of something we fear? The answer to this lies in what is sometimes called living in the state of Flow. The Flow State is a place where you exist completely in the now, embracing each moment life brings you. When you live in the Flow, you ride the wave of change instead of resisting it.
As you grow and evolve the way you see the world also grows and evolves. How you see the world changes. What is true for you today may not be true tomorrow. If you refuse to let go of the way you see the world you cannot grow and evolve. You become stuck.

Toltecs often talk about the assemblage point. The assemblage point is a place in the human energetic field where you “assemble” infinite rays of creation into perception. If you have a rigid assembly point your perception is limited. Toltecs strive to achieve a fluid assemblage point in order to expand their perception. When you have a fluid assemblage point, you flow with life allowing change to bring you new experiences and perceptions.

As you embrace change and live in the Flow State, your life seems to speed up. However, you are not overwhelmed. In fact, when you flow with change your capacity to take on more experiences, more life increases. You may experience in one month what you used to take one year to experience. You experience in one day what used to take a month to experience. Time is compressed. However, you are more relaxed and at ease. This is the State of Flow, a wonderful state to live in. When living in the Flow you experience in one lifetime more than what the average person would take many lifetimes to experience. The self that you are expands and grows. You become more of Who you are.

Change is here whether you feel comfortable with it or not. And, its pace is increasing by leaps and bounds. When you learn to live in the Flow State, you will find that what used to be a stressful experience, is now an experience that helps you grow and evolve into Who you are at your highest potential. Embrace change and it will become your best friend.

One of the most important aspects of living in The Golden Flow™ is to live in the now moment. Here’s how.

By now you have probably heard and read much about living in the now moment. Perhaps you have had glimpses of its benefits. You want to live in the now, but often this state of living in the now seems elusive and difficult to maintain. So how do you live in the now? Here I want to give you the first simple, yet powerful technique.

Living in the now moment is an essential ingredient for living in the Flow. Living in the Flow has many benefits. When in the Flow State, you worry less and therefore have less stress. Living stress free has numerous physical benefits such as increased immune function and lower blood pressure, which can lead to reduced heart disease. When living in the Flow, people also enjoy numerous psychological benefits such as feeling more secure, and happy. People in the Flow have an exuberance about life that is contagious. When you are in the Flow you have a greater capacity to cope and to deal with whatever life brings you. Living in the Flow is often accompanied by a wonderful state of well being.

There is a simple technique for living in the now moment that is conducive to the Flow State. This technique helps eliminate two of the biggest causes of being out of The Flow – ruminating about the past, and worrying about the future.

Negative or painful emotions such as being sad, angry, or depressed knock you out of the Flow State. These emotions such as chronic anger, for example, are often brought on by continually regurgitating something that happened to you in the past. This isn’t to say you should never get angry. There is a place for anger. However, authentic anger, like most authentic feelings pass through you. You get angry in the moment, and then it passes. However, when you begin to recall other times you were angry, or people who made you anger, then the anger builds and you become consumed by it. When in the now moment, you are no longer focused on the past and emotional charges no longer have a hold over you.

Worrying about the future, or having fear about what will happen or won’t happen also puts you out of the Flow. Chronic anxiety is caused by the constant worrying about what will happen to you. For many, such future tripping is the norm. They are constantly playing out what if scenarios in their head, ‘what if he rejects me,’ what if she says no,’ ‘what if I don’t have enough money,’ and so on. Here too, when you return to the now moment by focusing on the now moment instead of projecting into the future, you eliminate the worry, fear and anxiety that comes from being over preoccupied with the future.

It is easy to see how constantly churning past memories or habitually projecting what you think might happen or might not happen in the future, puts you out of the Flow, leading to a pretty miserable life. Instead of focusing on the past or future, if you focus on the now moment it easy to see how you can free yourself from negative emotions and worry. So how do you remain focused on the now moment?

There are several good techniques for this. However, they all basically come down awareness and your minds ability to focus on only one thing at once. Have you ever tried to listen to someone in the room talking to you while at the same time carry on a conversation on the phone? It is very difficult. The mind has difficulty splitting its attention on more than one thing at the same time, especially for extended periods of time. This is actually a good thing when it comes to living in the now.

Living in the now is no longer a new age spiritual or metaphysical concept. Recently, psychology has looked at the benefits of the Flow State and living in the now. They have come up with effective techniques to do so. One such technique is called ‘savoring’. When you savor a delicious bite of your favorite food, done to perfection, where is your focus? Are you ruminating about something someone did to you in the past? Are you worrying about what is going to happen at tomorrow’s dentist appointment? No, your awareness is focused on that wonderful lump of food in your mouth. You are focused right here, right now, in that beautiful now moment. You have just entered the State of Flow where life is good and you are full of well being.

As you go about your day, savor. Welcome whatever is in your now moment with unhurried appreciation. Savor the fresh air, the beautiful clouds, the life force coursing through your body…there is always something you can find to savor in any given moment.

Kalyn and I are presently living in one of our favorite places, San Miguel de Allende. We love to travel as it frees up our being, which in turn amplifies our ability to manifest even more. In fact, manifesting has become virtually effortless. Our lives are so full. We do what we love and the Universe fully supports us doing so.

We have found the keys to powerfully manifesting what you desire. It really isn’t that difficult, in fact it is often takes little to no effort. We are enjoying what we discovered so much, we want to share it with you. We are making a series of videos and writings like this so that you too can live the life of your dreams.

One of the secrets to being supported by life is to, what we call, live in The Flow. The Flow state is not only the most powerful state to live in from a manifestation standpoint, but it fills you with Well-Being. Every moment of life is a joy when living in The Flow.

Many people have heard of and even tried to apply the Law of Attraction. Some of you have found the key to making it work. We celebrate with you if you are one of these people. Others, however, have had difficulty making it work, others have dismissed it as new age hooey. I can tell you it does work, in fact it is always in action, but it takes a lot more than just visualizing or thinking thoughts about what you desire to manifest it. You must shift your energy, and the only way to do this is to change your State of Being.

The ultimate State of Being to be in is that of the Flow State. When you live in the Flow, you naturally are in the optimum State of Being for the Law of Attraction to work. You don’t need to try or effort to make it work. It works naturally.

One of the biggest problems people have when trying to manifest, or when trying to enter the Flow State, is that they get in their own way. By this I mean they try to manifest what they want, but the mere act of trying puts them out of The Flow.

Yesterday, while sitting in the courtyard of ‘The Library’ in the beautiful colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, sipping rich Mexican coffee with the sound of the fountain in the background, Kalyn and I decided to share our Dream with you. We are living our Dream of spending a good part of each year living in different exotic and spiritually enhancing places on this exquisite planet.

Kalyn and I have been walking our paths and guiding others for over 10 years now. We know what works and what doesn’t. We live our lives in Authentic Abundance, where the universe always provides us what we need to fulfill our desires. We have a beautiful home in Santa Fe, New Mexico with lots of land and enough space to enable us to have some of our inner circle live with us.

After working as a business executive most my adult life, I no longer have a day job. I work more than I have ever worked, but the work is my passion. I do what I love – write, teach, take groups of people to Sacred Sites around the world. Kalyn and I just enrolled our 4 year old daughter in a wonderful bi-lingual school that is based on the heart. She comes home happy, bubbling over with joy with the wonderful new things she has learned.

I could go on forever writing about how the Universe provides for us, our wonderful relationship and all the love, abundance and spiritual connection in our lives. But, what we really want to do is to share with you how it is possible for you too to live the life of your dreams.

What is Being in The Flow?

The flow is a beautiful, yet powerful state of being where life moves effortlessly through you. What does it mean to be in the flow? When in the flow you know the answers to life’s challenges with little effort or figuring it out. When flowing, you tap into your creative juices as the words, music or art naturally flows out of you. You may be highly productive, tapped in and turned on with little to no effort. But, perhaps most importantly, when in the flow, you experience well-being or even bliss of which happiness is a natural by-product.

Aspects of the flow state are experienced in different life arenas and are given different labels. In sports, for example, being in the flow is sometimes called being in the zone. In business, one gets into their groove and deals come naturally. In Buddhism, the state of being in flow is sometimes referred to as nirvana. When in the flow a musician becomes lost in their music. A painter becomes one with the canvas. Whether it is work, sport, conversation or hobby, when in the flow, there is often an experience of the suspension of time and complete freedom.

7 Key Signs of “Flow”

Czikszentmihalyi has done years of research on what leads to this sort of state and how it feels. Here are seven key characteristics of “flow” that he enumerates in the video:

Completely involved in what we are doing – focused, concentrated
A sense of ecstasy – of being outside everyday reality
A great inner clarity – knowing what needs to be done, and how well we are doing it
Knowing that the activity is doable – that our skills are adequate to the task
A sense of serenity – no worries about oneself, and a feeling of growing beyond the boundaries of ego
Timelessness – thoroughly focused on the present. Hours seem to pass by in minutes
Intrinsic motivation –whatever produces flow becomes its own reward.
